It is the most expensive chess board in the world. It was commissioned by Boodles. It is made using platinum and gold. It also uses precious stones like diamonds, rubies and sapphires. The king piece alone is made up of 146 diamonds and 73 rubies which have been embedded in 165.2 grams of carat gold. It costs about $9.8 USD. This makes it the most expensive chess set in the world. This royal chess set was crafted by renowned French artist by name  Bernard Marquin. Thirty craftsmen spent more than 4500 hours to create this set of course under the guidance of Marquin.

 Ferrari 250 GTO 1962 Model ($38 Million)

This unique car made automobile history by being the most expensive car sold  at an auction (Quail Lodge auction). It fetched a huge amount of $38 million. It was expected that the car could hit $50 million.

This car is among the 39 Ferrari 250 GTO’s ever made. The cars were produced between 1962 and 1964.

The bids at the auction began at $ 11 million and progressed to $30 million within 60 seconds. The bids increased by $100,000 until a climax of $34.65 million was arrived at.The 10% added to the buyer’s fees brought the total amount to approximately $38 million.

Just like many other cars during the time, the car was not immune to accidents. Cars belonging to this model were involved in accidents and then rebuilt on more than one occasion. A French driver by name Henri Oreiller once rammed the car into a building and died as a result. This led to an argument by some experts that the crash could undermine the value of the car.

This TV is 55 inches. It was designed by Stuart Hughes. Its outer frame and base is made up of 28 kg of solid 18ct rose gold. It also has 1 carat of diamonds. It costs about $2.3 million. It is amazingly designed to appeal you whether turned on or off.

Chopard Blue Diamond Ring ($16.26 million)

This is the world’s most expensive ring. Blue diamonds are very rare. They acquire their blue color from the boron deposits where are located. Being rare, they are regarded to be very precious. This magnificent ring is made up of  perfect , blue oval shaped diamond mounted on 18 carat white gold ring. There are also white diamonds which are triangular in shape on the side. The prestigious ring was made by a company called Chopard. The Swiss company also  specializes in making watches and Jewelry. It got its name from Louis-Ulysse Chopard who founded it in 1860. In the year 2000, it was sold at a price of $25 million making it the most expensive watch in the world. The watch is made up of 201 carats of pink, blue and white diamonds. A 12-carat heart shaped blue diamond is also included. Moreover, a 11-carat white diamond is also present.

The yellow face of the diamond-studded watch is exposed when the hearts spring open. The bracelet is made up by 163 carats of yellow and white pear-shaped diamonds.

Raphael’s Head of a Muse($47.9 million)

This is the most expensive drawing. The drawing was done by an Italian artist by name Raphael. The drawn picture measured approximately 15 inches by 11 inches. The picture was drawn in black chalk. It was taken on a mini world tour as a preparation for the London auction. The purpose of this tour was to popularise it to Asia, Europe and North America.

The mystery buyer of Raphael’s $47.9 million drawing was a New York financier by name Leon Black. However, Mr. Black has not managed to take the drawing home. This is because British Authorities are blocking Leon’s attempts. Instead, they have issued an export deferral so as to give British institutions an opportunity to buy it.

It was built by Stuart Hughes a Liverpool based jeweller. Earlier on, he had built a diamond iPhone 4, Gold ipad 2 and Platinum Macbook Air. According to Hughes, the IPhone took him 9 weeks to build. Surprisingly, the complete device was made by hand. Its outer casing is made up of 24-carat gold. The home button itself is made by 26 carat black diamond.

The corners of the smartphone and the apple logo are made up using white diamond. Encrusted with the iPhone are 600 precious stones 53 of which are found in the apple logo at the back. This expensive smartphone was made following a request by a Chinese based businessman who owned the black diamond that was used in the construction of the iPhone.

Insurance.com Domain($35.6 million)

Setting  up a website is usually simple. However, picking a name for your business or page is not such easy especially if they are based on web addresses that haven’t already been claimed.

However, some single word domain names are already taken. Purchasing this domain names is very expensive. Insure.com sold its name and website for a staggering $16 million. The insurance company’s URL and name was sold 10 times more than it was bought in 2001.

Marketing firm by name QuinStreet purchased this domain. This firm assists businesses to generate sales and access customers. QuinStreet also bought insurance.com in 2010 at a whooping $35.6 million. This insurance company offers car insurance, life insurance, health insurance and home insurance. This makes the company enter the list of the Top 10 most expensive things in the world .

Antillia Mumbai ($2 billion)

The world’s most expensive house is owned by a business tycoon by name Mukeshi Ambani.The 60 storey building is 400,000 sq/ft. It is located at Altamont road in South Mumbai. The building stands 570 feet above the ground hence one of the tallest building in Mumbai. The 60 storey building has 27 housing floors and 6 parking floors that can accommodate 168 cars.

The building also has :luxury amenities e.g. a well equipped movie theater that can accommodate 50 people, an amazing pool and a health club. The structure is also sorrounded by several gardens and terraces which beautify it the more. The luxurious house is also equipped with 9 lifts and an in-house garage.

The structure was designed by architects based in Chicago (“Perkins and Will”). Its safety standards are so high that they can enable it to withstand a 8-ritcher scale earthquake. It is also well maintained by a staff of 600 people.

Its magnificent interior is equipped with a traditional lounge which is beautifully decorated, ball room with designer lighting, an ice room which has been infused with artificial snow and three floors of hanging gardens.

All these features along with land valuation have made this tower the most expensive structure in the world. It is valued at $2 billion.

Rhein II( $4 million)

The photograph was 12 feet by 8 feet. Even modern high tech digital cameras can not be able to produce a photograph of that size( with quality and resolution). Probably, the image was produced by a large format camera which used an analogue film.

Although the image was captured by a large format camera, it was produced as a result of long careful planning. The time and place was carefully planned by the artist.The right equipment was also put into the use.

After capturing the image, Gursky digitally manipulated it. He removed people, dogs and buildings from the image to create it in a very unique way.

Although the image appeared pretty simple, its value was so high because it was able to stir emotions. It depicted River Rhine. In the image, the river flowed horizontally between two green grass fields under an overcast sky.

In 2011, it was auctioned for $4.3 million hence becoming the most expensive photograph ever sold. However, the identity of the buyer is still unknown. This image is therefore one of the Top 10 most expensive things in the world .
